Our Winter Insight Day is open to students in Year 12 and Year 13.
Students will have the opportunity to join taster sessions across a wide range of subject areas, including Psychology, Business, Law, Sports, Sociology, Psychosocial and Psychoanalytic Studies, Computer Science, Health and Social Care and Film.

Morning Sessions:
- Department of Sociology & Criminology: The Sociological Imagination: In this session, we will explore what it means to think sociologically. How issues such as inequality, crime, artificial intelligence, and racism relate to our own life stories and how sociology can shape polices to transform our societies.
- Edge Hotel School: Pop culture & Tourism: How do movies, TV shows, music or social media influence tourism? After exploring some real-world examples, we will discuss how popular culture can shape our perceptions of different places and inspire people to visit them.
Afternoon Sessions:
- Essex Business School: Would you trust an AI influencer?: From viral content to brand activism, virtual influencers are everywhere. This session unpacks new research on whether AI-generated creators can credibly speak on social and political causes, and how audiences engage with them compared with human influencers.
