The University’s Schools Membership scheme creates an exclusive network of schools, sixth forms and colleges across the UK and around the world, allowing us to allocate resources more effectively and engage with students and teachers in partner schools.
By identifying those we work closely with each year, we can ensure members are kept informed and up to date with current higher education issues and upcoming activities they can engage with at the University of Essex.
There is no cost associated with membership; instead our partner schools and colleges receive a range of benefits in exchange for their active participation in the scheme, attendance at our events and the provision of feedback at intervals throughout the year.
Each membership level is tailored to suit the needs of their strand but all partners are allocated a key member of staff at the University of Essex, receive newsletters, access to exclusive CPD resources, discounted rates at our extensive facilities on our Colchester and Southend campuses, and priority booking on exciting University of Essex events.
The Schools Membership Annual Teachers’ and Advisers' Conference takes place every summer term, and invites all Schools Membership partners to join us at our Colchester campus, or virtually if we are not able to host in person.
Throughout the day, attendees receive insights and updates into current Higher Education issues, have opportunities to feed into the Schools Membership programme for the coming year, and meet and network with other Schools Membership partners from across the region. The conference hosts guest speakers, provides interactive panel discussions and a range of Continuing Professional Development (CPD) sessions.
Your Schools Membership contact will be in touch with details of next year’s conference and how to reserve your place.
We recognise the importance teachers, advisers and counsellors play in our community and so we’re committed to investing in your continuing professional development wherever we can. As part of this, we run a week of free CPD training opportunities open to all teachers and advisers with an event each day to cover a specific topic.
