Whether you’re looking for a high-intensity workout like Cyclefit, Zumba and Insanity®, a conditioning session like Core and Stability, Metafit or Studio Pump, or our holistic classes like Pilates or Yoga, our fitness instructors offer members an unrivalled range of classes which utilise our fully air-conditioned, spacious and versatile fitness studios.

High intensity cardiovascular workout incorporating Technogym's Group Cycle™ bikes. Choose from Cycle: Speed, Cycle: Surge, and Cycle: Sweat for a 30 for 40 minute session. Please arrive 5 to 10 minutes early so you can be shown how to set up your bike for your first class.

We also offer virtual classes for some of our yoga, cycling and conditioning sessions. This increasingly popular ‘Fitness on Demand’ approach gives you the flexibility to workout outside of normal class hours. An instructor will always be on hand to get the class started and answer any questions you may have. 

We run Virtual Support sessions every Friday at 6.10pm, where you can come along and get used to a virtual fitness routine. Each week our Support sessions cover a different class style, giving you the opportunity to explore the world of virtual fitness and ensure you’re making the most of our high-tech facilities.

Fitness class fees

All classes are included within our Essex Sport Gold membership package, and classes taken before 3 pm are included within the Silver membership. For Silver members who would like to attend a peak-time class, bronze members and non-members, the following fees apply:

  • £5.50 public
  • £5.00 concession
  • £4.50 staff
  • £3.50 student
  • £2.75 Junior

 About the classes

  • Classes are suitable for all levels of ability unless otherwise specified
  • Please inform the instructor of any health concerns or medical conditions at the start of the session
  • Please ensure you arrive on time. Once the class has started, latecomers may not be able to join.

Class cancellations

Occasionally, due to unforeseen circumstances, the Sports Centre has to cancel classes at short notice. In these instances, reception will inform you at the earliest opportunity.

 

 

 

FAQs

How do I make sure I am marked as 'attended' so I don’t get fined?

The easiest and most accurate way to ensure you are marked as attended is by using your ID card to swipe through the turnstiles. Our system will then automatically register you. Therefore, it is necessary to always bring your card with you.

Should you not have your card, you must report to reception to receive a ticket to swipe through the turnstiles. Please note that asking a receptionist to open the gate for you may mean you are marked as absent and consequently fined or have access restricted.

Lastly, our instructors also take a register, so feel free to approach them at the start of the class to ensure you are marked as attended.

What if I can’t make a class?

If you wish to cancel your place, you must do so at least one hour before the class start time.

Cancellations can easily be done through our mobile app and online, or you can contact reception on 01206 873250.

The one hour window has been set for us to contact those on the waiting list and fill any spaces that become available.

We cannot accept cancellations with less than one hour's notice, as we will be unable to fill the remaining spaces. Any cancellations received after this time will not be processed and marked as non-attended.
