Registering your vehicle entitles you to cheaper pay and display parking charges. If you want to park on campus but are not registered, you will need to pay and display at the full visitor rate.
Students not living on Colchester Campus and disabled students are able to register for vehicle parking on campus. As parking spaces are limited, students living on campus may not register their vehicle unless they can evidence a medical or caring need. Find out more about student parking at Colchester Campus.
You can register your vehicle at any time during the year, but all permits expire in the first week of October. You must re-register in October each year.
The registration process is administered by the Estates Management Helpdesk.
We do not need you to provide your vehicle documents at registration. You just need to tick the declaration to let us know that your documents and driving licence are in order and confirm that you have a roadworthy vehicle. Estate Management may request sight of your car documents at any time during registration. Failure to provide requested documentation may result in your registration being withdrawn.
If you move onto campus you must cancel your parking registration. Daily automated checks are made to identify any resident student who applies for registration or who already has registration and has not surrendered it when they moved onto campus.
There are various parking options available.
Parking charges have been discounted from 12p to 8p for Academic Year 20/21 due to Coronavirus uncertainties and the resulting flexible work patterns.

We have introduced a new cashless payment system for those who choose to pay each time they visit, which means you can pay for your parking online and will no longer have to pay in person at the machines. This new system will improve safety and offers a simplified way to pay for your parking. The new system has a minimum stay charge of £0.32p for 4 hours.
Parking charges have been discounted from £41.00 to £27.47 for Academic Year 20/21 due to Coronavirus uncertainties and the resulting blended learning patterns.
Resident and non-resident students can register to park a motorcycle on campus. Registration is free and motorcycles will then be exempt from the pay and display charges.
Motorcyclists must park in the designated motorcycle parking spaces.
