The Health, Wellbeing and Care Hub at the University of Essex is a state-of-the-art centre designed to improve health and wellbeing across our region. Working in partnership with NHS England and local Integrated Care Boards, we deliver innovative services, training, and research that make a real difference.

The Health, Wellbeing and Care Hub offers:

Community-Facing Services – Accessible support for adults, children, and carers both online and in person.
Student Placements – Hands-on experience for future health and care professionals.
Research and Innovation – Driving improvements in health and wellbeing services.

The Hub’s vision is to be a centre of excellence for health-related research and workforce development, creating community-oriented services that improve public health and wellbeing.

Our Services for adults

Neuro rehabilitation Online Clinic (NROC)

For adults with Neurological conditions who have difficulties completing everyday tasks.

Move and meet

For people who are looking to improve mobility, reduce fall risk, and socialise in a friendly environment.

Living well with Parkinsons

For people with Parkinson’s who are looking for education and support to live well. A friend or relative is welcome to come too.

Care Connect

For carers of individuals living with the effects of brain injury.

Age Well Initiative

Designed for individuals aged 65 and over who are living with mild frailty and want to stay active.

Free NHS Health Checks

For anyone aged between 40-74 years who meets eligibility criteria.

Music Mirrors

For individuals living with dementia. Carer/loved one welcome to join.

Keeping Happy, Healthy and Safe

For people with learning disabilities. Carers/family members are welcome to attend to support the person with learning disabilities.

Online Fatigue Management Group

For people living with a long-term condition who feel fatigued after small tasks.

Healthy Eating, Healthy Bodies

For people with learning disabilities. Carers/family members are welcome to attend to support the person with learning disabilities.

Find Your Way: Navigating Grief

For adults who have experienced a loss or bereavement and would benefit from guided support delivered within a small, compassionate group.

Young Onset Dementia Group

For adults diagnosed with Young Onset Dementia (under 65). Carer/loved one welcome to join.

For preschool children with Down Syndrome.

Home CommuniCafe

For children aged between 5 and 16 who are educated at home who need speech and language therapy support.
