Here at the University of Essex, we are all about you. We want to know about your experiences, your views, and what we can do to improve your time with us.

We have a range of ways that you can share your views with us – meaning no matter where you are in your student journey, there is a chance for you to have your voice heard.

  • Be on the lookout for UKES if you are just joining us as a first year or are returning for your second year. You might get to experience the change you want to see while you are still with us.
  • If you are in the final year of your undergraduate degree, the NSS is your chance to feed back on your student experience over your time with us, and allow future generations of students to make an informed choice about what and where to study.
  • If you are a Postgraduate Taught student, PTES is the perfect forum to let us understand your experience of postgraduate taught study, your experience and its challenges, and to allow us to tailor our approach to it in the best way we can.
  • If you are a Postgraduate Researcher, we are still working hard to take forward the feedback that you shared with us through the Postgraduate Researcher Student Voice Survey last year, a survey we run once every two years.

There are still plenty of opportunities to have your voices heard as well as surveys, including Student Reps, Student Voice Groups, and module feedback surveys.

The surveys are anonymous, so you can have full confidence that, regardless of what students have to say, we are here to listen and to adapt. And your responses really do matter – departments and teams across the University use your feedback to reflect on what you have to say, and make changes where we can. You can see the many wonderful changes that have been implemented based on your feedback by visiting Your Voice Matters.

But don’t just take it from us!

Joe Holmes, VP Education of the Students’ Union, says:

“At the SU, we think you deserve the best education possible, and we know everyone has a mixture of different experiences. The only way we can all work together to make things better is if you’re open and you tell us how things are going. Speaking up, whether it’s taking a survey, being a Student Rep, or getting in touch with the SU Education Team, means that your voice is heard, and you can leave a mark on Essex for future generations. The University takes this feedback very seriously, and we’re here at the SU to make sure they’re listening to it and will work with them throughout the year to make sure changes happen. Help us do more of what you loved, take a look at what could’ve gone better and make sure students get the support they need to get an awesome degree and their dream job.”

Participate today and allow your voice to shape the University in the way you want to see it.

If you want to speak with someone about the surveys or about feedback, please feel free to contact Student Voice who will be happy to help.
