The purpose of the group is to provide information to people with learning disabilities, in a way that they can understand, to enable them to make healthier lifestyle choices.
We also recognise that many people with learning disabilities are socially isolated so the group will offer the opportunity to have social interaction in a safe and supportive environment.
The group is delivered by Nursing and AHP students under direct supervision and will be evidence-based. The group will cover:
This is a 6-week course. Sessions are two hours long and there will be practical sessions, including cooking, on week 3 and 6 which are three hours long.
Carers/family members are welcome to come to the group to support the person with learning disabilities.
If you are working with or supporting a person who may benefit from attending this group, please talk to them or their carer about attending.
