Enjoy full, free access to Microsoft 365 — including Outlook, OneDrive, Teams, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and OneNote — on both University-managed and personal devices throughout your time at Essex.

Access Microsoft 365 online

Sign in at Office.com using your Essex username (e.g. username@essex.ac.uk). You’ll be able to access all Microsoft 365 apps directly from your browser.

Install Microsoft 365 apps on your personal devices

You can install Microsoft 365 on up to five personal devices, including Windows PCs, Macs, iPhones, iPads, and Android devices.

To install:

1. Go to portal.office.com/account
2. Sign in with your Essex username (e.g. username@essex.ac.uk)
3. Select Install Office
4. Run the installer and sign in if prompted
   
   (If you can’t see the Install button, try again closer to your start date.)

When you leave the University

Your access to Microsoft 365 will end when your University IT account is closed. Before your departure, be sure to:

• Save any personal files you want to keep
• Move files off your University OneDrive
• Forward or export important emails
