Publicly available registers

Cameras

Our three campuses at Colchester, Southend and Loughton have 293 overt CCTV cameras to support security and safety for those who love, work, study and visit there.

Our cameras are located at:

• all car parks, vehicle barrier controlled access points and pedestrian walkways onto campuses
• all public areas (including the squares, parkland, lake and BBQ area at Colchester)
• lifts in academic and accommodation buildings
• all computer suites and laboratories and high-value areas (Data Archive, Library, Tony Rich Teaching Centre).
• main entrances and reception areas, rehearsal studios and some retail areas.

We also have six ANPR cameras operating the barriers at the Colchester Campus including the Knowledge Gateway and Wivenhoe entries. These capture number plate details of vehicles as they arrive and leave. 

At our Southend and Colchester campuses our Traffic, Patrol and Security Officers also use body worn video cameras. These are only used if they are activated during an incident.
