Building works at Colchester Campus

Works impacting lifts

Date	Location	Details
Ongoing	L8 lift	Lift out of service due to emergency works.
Ongoing	Silberrad Student Centre	Front lift (L84) out of service. Rear lift (L85) is in use as an alternative.
04 - 14 August 2026	Colchester campus all lifts	Insurance inspections will be taking place. Each lift will be out of service for around 30 minutes for an inspection. Where there are multiple lifts in an area, only one will be taken out of service at a time. If you need to use a lift while it is being inspected, please ask the Lift Technicians present and they will put the lift back into service for you.

16 May - 27 June 2026	Level 7 corridor	Barrier radiator replacements. Some noise may also be heard in rooms on this corridor and the floor below during works.
18 May - 14 August 2026	Plant Room 1.521	Refurbishment works, intermittent noise may be heard nearby.
01 June - 10 July 2026	Albert Sloman Library (first floor of south side and central stairwell)	Lighting upgrade to LED. There will be no access to the south side of the first floor during these works.
08 June - 10 July 2026	Square 3	Waterproofing works to sections of Square 3, outside Zest, Crumbs, and the Life Sciences Building. Some noise may be heard nearby while concrete is broken up at the start of the works.
09 - 22 June 2026	Silberrad Student Centre roof	Roof leak repairs, installation of moveable joint to prevent future leaks.
15 - 19 June 2026	Ivor Crewe Lecture Hall roof	Re-installation of solar panels following roof repair works.
18 June 2026	Network Building (CSEE)	Hot water cylinder replacement. No hot water to building between 8am and 5pm.
22 - 24 June 2026	Rear of Central Stores, near room 1.521	Installation of scaffolding for Plant Room refurbishment works.
20 - 24 July 2026	Gas substations: entrance to car park B, behind Grounds Barn, and in the meadow along Clingoe Hill	Upgrade works to gas substations on campus, including replacement of substation kiosk behind the Grounds Barn.

24 June 2026, from 7.30am	Brightlingsea Court 4, 5 & 6, Manningtree Court 1 and South Courts Launderette	Power upgrade works. 12-hour power outage
29 June 2026	Eddington Tower floor 1	High-side shower flooring replacement
29 June to 03 July 2026	Eddington Tower floor 12	Bedroom and corridor carpet replacements
