Get a taste for Masters

In 2021 we are hosting a Postgraduate Webinar Series, which includes one-week introductory courses at postgraduate level that offer an insight into what it would be like to study a Masters degree at Essex. Each one of these short courses are delivered online by our academic experts and you'll cover a schedule that is topical, interactive and – perhaps the best part – completely free!

What courses are available?

At the moment, six of our academic departments have confirmed they will be delivering short postgraduate courses as part of our Postgraduate Webinar Series in 2021. Our upcoming events are:

Our Departments of Economics, History, Psychosocial and Psychoanalytic Studies, and Essex Business School have all hosted events this year.

So, what do I need to know?

How many courses can I attend?

As many as you like! There is no limit to the number of these free short courses that you attend. In fact, we would encourage you to attend as many as you can, and some of our departments will be issuing certificates to those students who complete a set number of live sessions.

You can also attend more than one Department's course. For example, if you are interested in both economics and business, then consider taking part in both.

How do I book on?

To book, just visit each Department's event page (which will be linked to above when they are ready), and you will find a booking form there.

How will I be able to access a course?

If you book onto a course, you will be emailed information about how to access and attend the course. All of our courses in this Postgraduate Webinar Series will be delivered entirely online, largely through Zoom, so please ensure you have Zoom installed on your computer, laptop or other device.

Are these short courses assessed?

The short answer is 'no' because they are not academic courses. They are purely tasters so you can get a flavour of studying a Masters degree with us. You will be expected to participate, but you will not be required to produce any work during or after the courses.
