Accommodation Essex have temporary housekeeper/porter positions available starting in June. The term of the employment can be anything from two weeks to four months dependent on business needs.
Event Essex employs conference team leaders and conference assistants. These people are the first point of contact for all conference guests so good customer service and admin skills are required, and good knowledge of campus would be an advantage. Roles are full time from mid-June to mid-September.
Frontrunners provides opportunities to those with little or no previous work experience via our Frontrunner level opportunities, and supports those who may have some previous experience, via Frontrunner Plus. Opportunities are part time, on campus, and amongst all areas of the University.

Student Ambassadors are current university students, trained to represent the University of Essex across Recruitment, Outreach and Marketing teams’ activities. As a Student Ambassador, you will have the opportunity to work on various events including those on campus, in schools and college and on virtual activities. Student Ambassadors are positive role models of Higher Education, their course, and the University of Essex by providing a welcoming and positive student perspective to students and their guests.

The Registration team need highly motivated students who are passionate about making a positive contribution to the student experience to work as Welcome Assistants during this year’s Arrivals Day, and Registration event.
The role includes working within the student residences meeting and greeting our new students and their families, answering general queries and signposting to key areas on campus, conducting post-registration questionnaires, covering areas that are understaffed, and acting as runners if needed.
The opportunities listed above all count towards the Big Essex Award, which once completed will be recorded on your HEAR (Higher Education Achievement Report).
