Age group description

Blue - 4-5 Years Old

This course introduces children to the basics of the game through a series of fun activities to develop balance, coordination, agility, movement, and racket skills.

Red - 6-8 Years Old

This course is taught on smaller courts with short rackets and soft balls. It's just like the real game and gives players the opportunity to have rallies and practise different types of shot.

Orange - 9-11 Years Old

This course is played on longer, wider courts, and is a great way to continue the progress from mini red. Players can expect to develop a well-rounded game and improve racket and ball skills, technique, and tactics

Yellow - 12 - 16 Years Old

Player development continues from mini tennis to our junior programme; exploring the full game and controlling space, shots, and time with the faster yellow ball and full-sized racket.

Saturday sessions:

• Saturday 9am - 10am: Blue (4-5 yrs) and Red (6-8 yrs)
• Saturday 10am - 11am: Orange (9-11 yrs) and Yellow (12-16 yrs)

Prices

• 5 week course: £35 (LTA Blue = £30)
• 6 week course: £42 (LTA Blue = £36)

How to book

• If you are new to Essex Sport Junior, you will need to complete a children's registration form (.pdf) and return to reception by emailing screcept@essex.ac.uk. Once registration is complete, we can process your payment and book your place.
• Essex Sport members can book and pay online using our 'Connect' booking system. View our video guide 'How to Book and Essex Sport Junior Session' for more details.
• Parents can also telephone the Sports Centre reception on 01206 873250 and book and pay using a debit or credit card when we re-open. 
• Please make sure you and your child are familiar with our new Terms and Conditions (.pdf) and Code of Conduct (.pdf). By booking a course or Pay & Play session, you are agreeing to adhere to these.
