Industry-engaged education

Studying at the Edge Hotel School can give you the knowledge and skills to work in high-profile organisations in a wide range of sectors and countries. Our undergraduate courses have been developed with industry, for industry and provide you with the skills needed to succeed in the real-world.

Throughout our courses we use the Professional Performance Assessment (PPA) which takes the form of a mock interview to allow you to reflect, practise and improve your interview skills before embarking on interviews for your first graduate role.

Many industry experts deliver master classes to support your development during your course and the annual Edge Hotel School careers fair welcomes a range of hospitality organisations to give you the chance to network and engage with future employers.

Throughout your degree you will be given the chance to engage directly with the industry and take advantage of opportunities to connect - for example, some students on our Events Management courses are able to gain experience at the BRIT Awards.

Hands-on experience

All of our undergraduates get experience in the fully commercial 4* hotel, Wivenhoe House, giving you the chance to put your academic knowledge into practice and gain valuable skills to add to your CV.

At Level 6, students get to connect directly with a hospitality or events organisation for the Level 6 consultancy project:

  • For hospitality and hotel management students the project enables you to work on a project or problem for an external client. In the past these have included putting together social media and marketing strategies, working on brand development and even contributing towards hotel launches.
  • For events management students, the Level 6 Project is your opportunity to organise a live event for an external client from start to finish. Many Edge Hotel School students have been offered job opportunities with their project clients having performed to such a high level.

Our students have also embarked on additional self-organised work experience placements with the likes of Shangri-La The Shard, Red Carnation Hotels and Marriott by utilising the industry connections available through the School.

"I commissioned a consultancy project with a team of Edge Hotel School students to design a social media campaign for the launch of a new 5* hotel in London. Throughout the process I was very impressed with their professionalism and hard work and was astonished at the quality of their recommendations, which was on par, if not better, than professional services we have employed in the past."
