The University understands the cost-of-living challenges our students are facing, and we want to ensure our prospective students have access to affordable accommodation during their studies. The University is awarding scholarships of £2,000 towards University owned or administered accommodation to eligible UK students who achieve BBB or above in their A-levels (or equivalent qualification – please see below). The scholarship is available for the first year of undergraduate degree study only, for those entering the University for the first time in 2023.

Eligibility

  • These scholarships are restricted to students who are Home UK fee payers.
  • Students must register for the foundation year (Year 0) or first year (Year1) of a full-time undergraduate degree at the University of Essex in October 2023.
  • You must have applied for, and accepted, a place in University owned or administered accommodation for the academic year 2023-24 by the deadline of 4 October 2023 at 11.59pm GMT.
  • You must achieve:
    • A-levels: BBB or above (or 120 tariff points from three A-levels)
    • BTEC Extended Diploma: DDM 
    • Access to HE Diploma: 24 level 3 credits at Distinction and 21 level 3 credits at Merit 
    • International Baccalaureate Diploma with 30 overall, or three HL certificates with 555 (please note with 34 and above you could be eligible for IB Excellence Scholarship instead)
    • 120 tariff points from a mixed qualification profile (e.g., BTEC Diploma DD + A-level D)
       

How to apply

If you meet all the eligibility criteria, you will automatically be considered for this award, and will be notified by the end of November. You don’t need to complete an application form
