If you've got a first class degree from a UK university, you could be eligible for a 25% discount on your Essex Masters tuition fee with our Masters Excellence Scholarship.

Eligibility

  • These scholarships are restricted to full-time students who are Home fee payers and are entirely self-funded*.
  • Students must have been awarded a first class honours bachelor's degree from a UK university.
  • Eligible courses are those which are full-time Taught Masters programmes leading to the degree of MA, MSc, and LLM and start in October 2022 and January 2023.
  • Applicants who have firmly accepted an offer of a place by 16 September 2022 (for October 2022 start) or 06 January 2023 (for January 2023 start) and met the academic conditions of entry, will be considered for these scholarships.
  • The scholarship is offered in the form of a reduction on the annual tuition fee for the first year of full-time study only.
  • Only one scholarship award can be made per student and the award cannot be held in conjunction with any other University of Essex scholarships.
  • Successful applicants should be available for promotional activities.

*Students receiving a repayable loan to fund their studies will be considered as self-funded.

Students who are not eligible

The following applicants are NOT eligible for the Masters EU Scholarship regardless of meeting the above criteria:

  • Part-time students, or those who are fully or partly sponsored.
  • Students who are studying a Masters normally delivered wholly online.
  • This scholarship award does not apply to deferred entry. Where a scholarship has been awarded to a student who subsequently defers entry to the following academic year, the award will be withdrawn and the applicant will be considered again in line with the terms and conditions that apply in the new proposed year of entry.

How to apply

All academic applications will automatically be considered. There are no additional application requirements.

The University will use official transcripts and certificates, submitted as part of the original application, as evidence of grades achieved and no alternative supporting evidence will be accepted.

Applicants who have firmly accepted an offer of a place by 16 September 2022 (for October 2022 start) or 06 January 2023 (for January 2023 start) and met the academic conditions of entry, will be considered for these scholarships. Applications submitted after that date may be considered depending on availability of funds.

Payment arrangements

These scholarships will only be made available as a reduction on the tuition fee that is payable on registration at the University. Payment cannot be offset against a tuition fee deposit if one is required.
