Finding a mentor
Students are encouraged to formalise their mentorship arrangements as early as possible, unfortunately accessing high quality ultrasound mentorship in the musculoskeletal specialism can be challenging.
If students do not have a mentor, the University of Essex has links with a healthcare provider who can support musculoskeletal ultrasound students.
The mentorship offered ensures access to a diverse caseload of NHS patients, (students would not scanning be normal subjects or peers) and can either be in a musculoskeletal assessment and treatment service, (suitable for physiotherapists, GPs, sports physicians) or in a radiology service, (suitable for sonographers and radiologists).
