Our three research groups explore basic science questions alongside projects with strong societal impact. The groups have received funding from a range of prestigious organisations such as the Economic and Social Research Council, International Olympic Committee, World Anti-Doping Agency, Sport England, Rugby Football Union, and British Heart Foundation.
We have an outstanding reputation for both education and research. We were ranked 9th in the Times Good University Guide for Sports Science in 2018, and 13th for research intensity in the REF2014, with many research activities rated as 'world-leading' or 'internationally excellent'. We consistently rank highly for both student satisfaction (NSS statistic here) and employability (DLHE stat here).
