We Are Essex

Stephanie's story

Stephanie Omol

"I’m really interested in how people think and relate to each other."

If I could give myself a piece of advice, I would say use the library earlier and make the most of resources on campus. It just takes asking to know what is there for you. That makes life so much easier.

I’m working on my final year project right now. It’s about body image and eating habits, how people perceive themselves and how this effects how much they eat and how they relate to others. I’m really interested in how people think and relate to each other. I want to do a marketing postgraduate course. This was the best way to start, so employers can see I’m interested in the field and have the research skills.

My parents inspire me. That sounds so cliché, but basically where I’m from you have to push yourself. Seeing how my parents grew from their background to where they are now, and being able to take me to a school like Essex, it’s admirable. I want the same thing for myself.
