Welcome to our department

Your department induction is an essential part of Welcome Week. It is a great opportunity to meet key members of staff and gives you the chance to get to know your fellow students who will be studying on your course with you. We expect you to attend as you will receive important information to help you start your university experience.

More information about your induction will be sent to your Essex email nearer the time. Remember to check this regularly for dates, times and further details.

16:00 - 18:00	Undergraduate Induction Join the Department of Literature, Film and Theatre Studies for this informal induction event involving welcome talks from the Head of Department, Director of Education and Subject Directors. You will get the chance to meet your peers, lecturers, your personal tutor and the admin team - and we will even provide some free pizza.	FUNc.

Wednesday 1 October 2025

Our introductory seminars will provide an overview of how we approach teaching your subject here at Essex. We’ll also share what you can expect from your course - and what we expect from you - so you can feel confident and ready for your first timetabled sessions next week.

These sessions are an important part of your induction, so we are expecting everyone to come along. It’s the perfect way to start your journey with us!
