The University recognises the importance of every new employee receiving a comprehensive induction programme that enables them to settle into their new job quickly.
An effective induction enables you to understand how we do things at Essex and provides the information and support to perform in your new role. It is also a contractual requirement for all new permanent and fixed-term employees to complete the induction process to pass their probation period.
Your reporting manager (or their nominee) will be responsible for your induction at Essex. If you have any issues or concerns, talk your reporting manager.
What you need to do
There is a range of activities that all new employees are expected to do as part of their induction at Essex.
All the information related to induction can be found in the online Welcome to Essex resource which includes the following:
a comprehensive induction checklist
access to all essential training related to your role – this will need to be completed within your first six months of employment.
links to book onto and attend induction events (including networking events and role-specific inductions)
Accessing your induction resources
To access the resource, you'll need to log in using your Essex username (without the @essex.ac.uk) and your password to log into Moodle, our virtual learning environment.
