Employee Campus Card

Your University Campus Card is an important part of life at Essex. It’s not just for accessing services — it also helps us maintain a safe and secure campus.

A visible ID card helps us to:

  • Ensure only authorised individuals are accessing our spaces

  • Support out-of-hours building management

  • Promote a culture of safety, respect, and accountability

What your Campus Card allows you to do

  • Take out books from the Library

  • Access certain restricted areas of the University (depending on your role and department)

  • Use the managed printers to collect your print jobs

Staff Campus Cards

  • When you start working with us, you’ll be issued with an employee Campus Card.

  • Keep your ID card on you and visible at all times and encourage others to do the same
  • Working out of hours? Make sure you follow lone working guidance and check in with Security if needed
  • See something concerning? Report it to the Security and Campus Safety Team — they’re here 24/7. Security Emergency Line: 01206 872222

Replacement or lost cards

If your card no longer works or is lost, please complete and submit a Staff Card Request form.
