About

We are a NIHR-funded research team working to develop a strong and sustainable portfolio in applied mental health research across Essex, Thurrock and Southend-on-Sea.

The Essex Mental Health Research team aims to improve the mental health of young people aged between 16 and 24 in Essex, Thurrock and Southend-on-Sea. We are working in close partnership with local healthcare services, charities, schools and community organisations to identify and develop new approaches to supporting young people to improve their mental health.

Central to our work is the meaningful involvement of local communities, particularly individuals who have lived experience of going through similar difficulties, who will help shape, guide and inform our research.
