Biography

Member of Intelligent Embedded Systems and Environments (primary), and Robotics and Mechatronics (secondary) Prospective PhD students and academic visitors interested in Autonomous Systems and Robotics, Applied Machine Learning, UAV Sensing, Precision agriculture, etc. are encouraged to contact me by email with your full CV. My recent supervised (graduated) PhD students include a Lecturer in the UK and a Senior Engineer in UK consultancy. Dr Jinya Su was born in China in 1990. He is now a UK Lecturer (tenure track assistant professor equivalently) in Computer Science and AI, CSEE at University of Essex (UoE), U.K. He received a PhD degree in the Department of Aeronautical and Automotive Engineering, Loughborough University (top 10 UK university), U.K. in 2016. He was a master student (research), Southeast University (top University), China from 2011-2012. He received a B.Sc. degree in Mathematics, Shandong University (top Univerisity), China in 2011. From Jan/2017 to July/2019, Dr Su worked as a post-doctoral research associate at LUCAS group of Loughborough University under the supervision of Prof. Wen-Hua Chen (EPSRC Established Career Fellow, IEEE/IET/FIMechE Fellow). He has published about 40+ journal (28) and conference papers including Automatica (3), IEEE Transactions (8), Transportation Research Part C: Emerging Technology (1), Computer and Electronics in Agriculture (4). Several publications are ESI highly cited papers and the publications have attracted 950+ citation in Google Scholar. He has also received a number of prestigious prizes and awards chronologically including Outstanding Early Career Researcher Award from University of Essex (2020); Top cited Automatica Articles (2020), Santander Mobility Award (2019); Challenge Seedcorn Award (2019); PDR Performance Excellent Award of Loughborough University (2019); Outstanding Reviewers (2018); Annual ICI Best Paper Award (2016); IEEE-IES Student Paper Travel Grant (2016); School Research Student Development Fund (2016); ABTA Doctoral Researcher Award (2016); Chinese Government Award for outstanding self-financed student abroad (2015); Best student paper award of ICAC (2013), EPSRC Full studentship (2012). He has established a stable collaboration with several universities and institutes such as Loughborough University, NIAB-EMR. He is a guest editor for IEEE, SAGE and Frontier journals, Book reviewer for CRC press; proposal reviewer for BARD. He is now an active reviewer for 40+ journals including Automatica,IEEE TAC/CST/TIE/TASE/Cybernetics/SPL/ITS/IVT/Sensors/GRSL, and about 20 conferences including CDC/ACC/ICRA/IROS/IJCNN/ITS/IVS. He is the PC member for 17th ICNSC, CyberLife (2019), ICIA (2016), he also organized an invited session for CCC (2018). ------------------------------------------------------------ He has led (PI/CoI) or participated as PDRA a number of projects worth £3 Million+: Ongoing projects: 1.
