New Southend students 2 or 3 year accommodation deal 2019-20

This deal offers our lowest rent in Southend, and a significant saving on your total rent. In addition we're offering free vacation accommodation, meaning you won't need to move out during the summer.

What's the deal?

New students studying at Southend in 2019 are invited to apply for our two or three-year accommodation deal.

This deal offers our lowest rent in Southend and a significant saving on your total rent. In addition, we're offering free vacation accommodation, meaning you won't need to move out during the summer.

Those with a two-year contract will have free summer vacation accommodation at the end of their first year of study and those with a three-year contract will have free summer accommodation at the end of their first and second years of study.

The two or three-year accommodation offer is the best deal available for students living in single en suite rooms in University Square. By selecting the two-year accommodation option you can save around £530 on your total accommodation cost, by selecting the three-year accommodation option you can save around £1000, with a discounted weekly rent of £143.92.

This offer means that you are guaranteed accommodation in your second year and in your third if you select the three-year option.

Your summer vacation period is determined by your allocation period, which is based on the dates of your course; therefore the summer vacation period may vary between students on different courses. The dates of your allocation period can be found on your offer letter or letter of allocation.

If you need the dates for your summer vacation period before you receive an offer letter, contact our Student Services Hub.

How do I apply?

Applications will open on Tuesday 8 January 2019. When you apply, please select the two or three-year option on the application form.

Upon completion and submission of your application form, and provided you have met the required criteria, you will receive an online offer including your two or three-year contract and year one room allocation.

At the same time, you will be asked to confirm if you require the free accommodation during the summer vacation at the end of your first year.

Full details of your year two room allocation will be provided as soon as it is available.

Are there any exception?

Studio accommodation

The deal is only for en suite accommodation and is not available for studios. If you want to apply to live in a studio you should apply as normal for your first year, and then separately for the second year.

How much will I save?

  • Total saving of up to £530 for a 2 year deal and up to £1000 for a 3 year deal

The above savings are approximate and based on expected rent prices for a 42 week undergraduate tenancy. Actual savings will be dependent upon course length and subsequent accommodation allocation related to your course.

Part-year Essex abroad students

Students who opt to study for part of the year, such as EU Exchange students, are eligible to apply for University accommodation. The weekly rent charged, however, will be higher than for students who are accommodated for the full year to take account of the periods when the rooms are not let.

  • Ensuite room - £155.47 per week
  • Studio - £191.73 per week
