Please note that contract lengths vary in line with course dates. Postgraduate courses are normally 50 weeks and undergraduate courses are normally 42 weeks, however, some courses start earlier or finish later than others.

New student rate for 2024-25

If you are a new student for 2024-25, you can now take advantage of our 3 year Southend Campus deal with the following rates:

  • Single ensuite room is £148.96 per week

Cladding replacement

Work to replace the cladding at University Square, Southend has begun and will be completed by August 2024.
 
Everything will be done to mitigate the impact on those living at University Square. Although there will be some noise and disruption during these works, there will be no disturbance during the evenings, weekends and Bank Holidays.

Alternative study areas are available in The Forum and Gateway building.

About University Square

University Square accommodation is perfectly placed to enjoy the many attractions and facilities Southend has to offer. There are seven houses around a central enclosed courtyard and each contain flats for eight to ten students, with shared kitchens.

  • En suite toilet and shower facilities in each bedroom
  • The self-contained apartment has 2 bedrooms, bathroom, living room, and kitchen
  • Typical room size is 15.5ft x 17.5ft

Self-contained studio flats 

There is also a selection of self-contained studio flats suitable for either single or couple occupancy, with their own kitchenette and en suite bathroom. The vary in size depending where they are located.

The studios include:

  • kitchenette (sink, hob, cupboards, microwave, fridge/freezer, kettle)
