I chose Essex because its ethos was similar to my personal philosophy. Pushing and striving for change, for a better and more just society. You may wonder how - study at Essex to find out! The Colchester campus has beautiful parks, and it is only a 40-minute train ride away from London. I study Law with Human Rights, a thought provoking and relevant course, that enables me to think stupendously about world legal affairs. It also gave me the opportunity to join the Essex Law Clinic, where I am able to gain legal experience, by dealing with real clients and helping members of the community with their legal matters. Settling in was easier than expected, there are students from all over the world. With a welcoming sense of community, I made friends in my classes and attended free events hosted by the Student Union. I joined Vteam - the SU’s volunteering group, the Kickboxing Club, archery, Christian Union, and the Brazilian Society. There are a range of different sports and societies for every taste, it is almost impossible to get bored! Along with my studies, I work as Student Ambassador, a flexible job opportunity that works around our busy student schedule. I am currently a Frontrunner for a Brazilian research project, with the Department of History. This is a paid internship opportunity, hosted by the University. This opportunity is aiding me to enter the world of academic research, which is something I would like to pursue in the near future, as well as the LPC, for my career.

I have been helping Brazilian entrepreneurs with their start-ups and scale-ups for the last ten years in different incubators, accelerators, VCs and NGOs, before I was chosen for a scholarship funded by the UK's Foreign and Commonwealth Office to study the MSc in Business Analytics at Essex. I am passionate about entrepreneurship, data, product management and customers' pains, but I'd always lacked some data-oriented skills that the analytical approach of the course helped me develop. Being close to London also helped me to get in touch with different people, expand my network, attend interviews and eventually get a job.
