All Essex students are welcome to use the drop-in hour.

RAs are returning students so if you have a query or are struggling with University life, speaking to an RA is a good place to start. RAs can offer you advice and guidance on

  • Exam stress or worry
  • Wellbeing concerns
  • Loneliness and making friends
  • Communal living issues such as shared space or food theft
  • Flat disputes and flat agreements
The RAs are also trained to signpost you to other services at the University to ensure you get the best advice and support.

If you'd like a friendly listening ear, then join us on Zoom using Meeting ID: 920 1237 9049 any time between 7-8pm (UK Time). You will be admitted to a waiting room and one of the RA team will speak to you when available.

Need immediate support?

Whilst on campus, if you find yourself, a friend or flatmate in an urgent or emergency situation, please contact Security, as they are first aid trained and available 24/7 to offer support.

Quiet Hours

To help everyone get the peace they need during exams, we are putting a period of ‘quiet hours’ in place. That means that between 19 April to 18 June, you all need to make sure that you are quiet (keeping noise levels low enough so they do not travel outside of your room) between the hours of 5pm – 9am each weekday and 24 hours at weekends. This will hopefully help everyone get the sleep and rest they need, as well as the quiet time to study or complete take-home examinations. Please report noise complaints to Campus Security.
