We offer many funding opportunities to support both undergraduate and postgraduate students, including a broad range of University of Essex scholarships.

Undergraduate Tinson scholarships

Tinson scholarships are available to applicants from the former Soviet Bloc applying for our any of our undergraduate LLB programmes. We are offering two exceptional applicants a full fee waiver for the length of the course. This fund covers the cost of tuition fees only, not living expenses.

How to apply

Once you have secured an offer (either conditional/unconditional) you can apply, all you have to do is submit a CV, plus a 500-700 word statement explaining why you think you should be a successful candidate. This can include details of activities you have been involved in and, how you would benefit from the cash award, or why you’re looking forward to studying law at Essex.

Please submit completed a document/letter as well as an up to date CV to lawugadmin@essex.ac.uk.

The application deadline for October 2020 entry is 31 May 2020. The successful applicants will be contacted by email.

Soviet Bloc countries:

Albania, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Rep, Estonia, Georgia, Hungary, Kazakhstan, Kosovo, Kyrgyzstan, Latvia, Lithuania, Macedonia, Moldova, Montenegro, Poland, Romania, Russia, Serbia, Slovakia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Ukraine, Uzbekistan.

Masters Tinson scholarship

Tinson scholarships are available to applicants from the former Soviet Bloc applying for our any of our Masters programmes. This fund covers the cost of tuition fees only, not living expenses.

How to apply

  • You must have an offer of a place on one of the Law or Human Rights postgraduate courses (conditional or unconditional).
  • You should submit a 500 to 800-word statement explaining why you think you would be a suitable candidate plus a CV to lawpgtadmin@essex.ac.uk.

The amount of the award covers the cost of tuition fees only, not living expenses.

Short course to prepare you for academic success

We know that the disruption to your learning this year has had a significant impact, and we are dedicated to supporting you to success in your future learning. To help you prepare for university, we’ve developed an online, six-week course called the Pre-Undergraduate Short Course. It’s completely optional but if you complete it and enrol with us this year, you’ll be eligible for a £500 bursary.
