PhD scholarships
AHRC Doctoral Landscape Awards
The Arts and Humanities Research Council (AHRC) funds outstanding original research across the arts and humanities. Applicants for PhD study in our Department can apply for AHRC Doctoral Landscape Awards. Funding covers fees, maintenance and professional development opportunities during your PhD. Please note that you will need to be researching within the AHRC subject coverage areas.
CHASE Doctoral Training Partnership
The University, along with six partner institutions, is a member of CHASE: Consortium for the Humanities and the Arts South-East England, which has been awarded £17m from the Arts and Humanities Research Council (AHRC) to fund PhD studentships over a five year period.
Applicants for doctoral study in Language and Linguistics at Essex can apply to CHASE for AHRC studentships through the department. Funding covers fees, maintenance and professional development opportunities during your PhD.
