This half-day conference presented the final outcomes of the research project and gave participants an opportunity for discussion on the wider context for and the evolution of EU-China security relations.

Final conference

EU-China Security Relations: from convergence to cooperation?

Held on 1 June 2015 at Egmont Palace, Brussels

The final conference presented the findings of the research as well as engaging with a wider audience. It also provided an opportunity to gather feedback and comments on the draft chapters for the book.

After the conference the book authors were invited to a reception and presentation at the European Commission by the European External Action Service. Dr Gerhard Sabathil of the EEAS also gave a short after-dinner speech at the conference dinner.

International workshops

Two workshops have facilitated the presentation of draft policy papers and chapters and the discussion of preliminary findings with selected scholars and experts from Europe and China. PhD candidates and post-doctoral fellows from the participating institutions in were also able to participate in these workshops.

Our European workshop was held on 2-3 April 2014 at the University of Maastricht on the Brussels campus.
