DemFoCAS

An older person holding the hands of a younger person

This project is called DemFoCAS (Dementia – Fundamental of Care in Acute Settings) in partnership with ESNEFT looking at the fundamentals of dementia care.

In the School of Health and Social Care, there is a research team led by Professor Camille Cronin. The researchers include Dr Rachel Marrow, Dr Rachel Marrow, Thomas Currid, PhD clinician Rebecca Impson and Professor Victoria Joffe. This project is called DemFoCAS (Dementia – Fundamental of Care in Acute Settings) in partnership with ESNEFT looking at the fundamentals of dementia care. This is an exciting clinical piece of work undertaking a participatory approach to research in practice and engaging our local stakeholders. The project carries a mixed method case study design which is built upon the principles established in Kitson’s (2018) fundamentals of care framework and is guided by the Donabedian model for evaluating quality of care. Rebecca Impson, our PhD student attached to the project, is on a partnership doctoral programme conducting research that will investigate the use of portable interactive light projectors “magic tables” for patient rehabilitation in people living with dementia admitted to the acute hospital wards.
