Biography

Angela Livingstone joined the Department of Literature at University of Essex in 1966 and remained there (as lecturer, reader, professor) until her retirement in 1997. She was Head of Department 1992-95. She has published 14 books and 70 articles, mostly about 20th-century Russian literature, especially concentrating on the work of Boris Pasternak, Marina Tsvetaeva and Andrei Platonov. While retired, she has continued writing and translating.
