Dr Patricia Danahey

Biography

Dr. Pat Danahey Janin is a Senior Research Officer with the MSPACE Project, Department of Government, University of Essex, United Kingdom. The Marine Spatial Planning Addressing Climate Effects (MSPACE) grant and research project is a highly integrated, multidisciplinary project conceptualised to drive forward the capability of the four UK nations in designing and implementing climate-smart marine spatial plans (MSP). Under the direction of the University of Essex Lead Investigator, Professor Gina Yannitell Reinhardt, the position engages with the work packages charged with mapping the marine spatial planning (MSP) governance landscape, engaging with key stakeholders, and assessing values and trade-offs in preferences among stakeholders. She completed her Doctorate Degree in Philanthropic Studies at Indiana University, Lilly Family School of Philanthropy in 2023 where she carried out research on international philanthropy and ocean conservation as well as philanthropy and higher education, fundraising and teaching. Prior to that, she has 18 years of experience in multicultural transversal project management, coordination, communication and events having worked with government, business, international organizations, foundations and NGOs. Her current research interests are centered on stakeholder engagement for ocean issues and the approaches to innovation, risk taking and “failure” in charitable foundations.
