Join us for this week's Essex Data Science seminar, Summer Term 2024. Our ED-3S seminars are open to everyone, and offer a great opportunity to meet new people and join in with our community.

Dr Yi Zhang (University of Birmingham) will present this seminar on discounted Markov decision processes and their extensions.

Abstract

The theory for discounted Markov decision processes (MDPs) has been well developed. In this talk we review some basic results concerning their occupation measures, which are convenient for the studies of optimal control problems with constraints. After that, we discuss the possibility of their extensions to more general models (uniformly absorbing MDPs, absorbing MDPs, or more general MDPs with total criteria). The studies of absorbing MDPs have been active recently.

How to attend

The seminar will be held in STEM 3.1 at 14:00 on Thursday 25 April. It is open to everyone, including the general public. Please contact Dr Jianya Lu (jianya.lu@essex.ac.uk) for further information.
