Join us for this workshop on comparing psychoanalysis and other theories with Rodrigo Sanchez Escandon and Greta Kaluzeviciute.
The Department of Psychosocial and Psychoanalytic Studies and the Psychoanalytic Society at the University of Essex will be hosting a one-day workshop 'Workshop on Differences: Comparing Psychoanalysis and Other Theories' on December 5, 11am-3:30pm. Dr David Henderson will start the workshop by comparing Jungian, Freudian and Lacanian theories. Greta Kaluzeviciute will compare contemporary psychoanalytic theory and research with other practices, such as CBT, and explore the role of psychoanalysis in today's mental health.
11am-12pm: David Henderson on Jungian, Freudian and Lacanian theories
12pm-1pm: Greta Kaluzeviciute on Psychoanalysis and CBT
1pm-3:30pm: Debate - Can psychoanalysis and religion coexist and is it good for society? (panellists Rodrigo Sanchez Escandon and Roderick Main, moderated by Chris Nicholson)
The workshop will be followed by a debate that goes back to the most controversial question in psychoanalysis: Can psychoanalysis and religion coexist and is it good for society?
The workshop will seek to promote psychoanalytic thinking, reflect on theoretical and clinical differences between different schools of thought, and engage with undergraduate and postgraduate students to bring the PPS community together. Attendees from other institutions and programmes are welcome to join us online.
