The Business Law Clinic gives students in Essex Law School the opportunity to apply their legal knowledge to real-world issues and gain valuable professional experience.Working in small teams under academic supervision, you’ll contribute to projects with real impact, developing skills in research, communication, teamwork, and innovation that are highly valued by employers.
The Clinic is open to final-year LLB and Law PGT students at the University of Essex.
This years projects include:
An extracurricular initiative combining legal problem-solving with creative digital prototyping and design. Students explore real-world legal issues from a user’s perspective and work in teams to create simple digital prototypes such as explainers, chatbot guides, or app mock-ups using accessible AI tools like ChatGPT. No coding experience required, just curiosity and creativity.

Work with the Mercury Theatre on real entertainment contracts and legal documents to help improve fairness and transparency for freelancers in the creative industries. Students receive focused training and collaborate in small teams to produce practical outputs supporting responsible industry practices.

This project builds on an existing guide for credit unions and helps members better understand ethical lending practices.
