Led by performance coach, and UEFA B licensed coach Pedro Bruno, the football programme at the University has being growing at a fast pace in the last couple years.
The women’s first team compete in the BUCS Premier South Division and the men’s in the South Eastern 1A.
We are also proud that at Essex we are a FA Women's Football High Performance Centre too, supporting and developing the future women's game coaches from around the South-East and our students.
As a student at Essex, you'll benefit from not only our first-class sporting facilities, but unique partnerships with Football Clubs, such as Ipswich Town Billericay Town, Hashtag United, AFC Sudbury, and West Ham United Women too.
I’ve enjoyed every moment being within the performance programme at The University of Essex. It’s advanced my footballing game, as well as physicality. The programme provides many opportunities to grow not only as a footballer, but as a person too. There are networking opportunities to improve your connections, as well as support whether that being in your athletic career or academic. I’ve met all my friends through the programme who I can see being lifelong friends with. The University of Essex has been an enjoyable and memorable experience in terms of my academic studies. The campus is very moreish which encouraged me to want to go and do extra pieces of work outside study times. The teaching staff are extremely knowledgeable and very helpful whenever I’ve been in need. I’ve enjoyed studying at this university just as much as playing for them. It’s been a real privilege.
