All this week we are celebrating the achievements of some of our students who are graduating in the class of 2019.

Rasheedat Olarinoye (BSc Psychology with Cognitive Neuroscience) has learnt vital communication skills on her course, and she hopes to become a fully qualified psychologist after Graduation.

On top of her studies, Rasheedat has worked as a Senior Advisor in the Students’ Union Advice Centre, and has volunteered at Nightline.

She said: “Essex has provided me with amazing opportunities to work directly with hundreds of students.

“I’ve learned to be to be non-judgmental, empathetic and a supportive listener. My work with Nightline has helped me deal with individuals in vulnerable situations.”

Rasheedat has also worked as a counsellor with the Mentally Aware Nigeria Initiative. She says her course and volunteering work has led her to train for a postgraduate certificate as a Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner.

She said: “I would love to continue supporting individuals, and this training will help me achieve my ambition.”
