Department of History - Welcome Event First Year Induction

Induction to your new academic department is an essential part of Welcome Week. During Welcome Week, the Department of History will be hosting a number of induction events. These are an essential part of your Welcome Week and will introduce you to our department. We look forward to meeting you and welcoming you into our History Department.

This induction event is part of a series we have planned to welcome you to your time at Essex.

Your department induction is a compulsory part of Welcome Week.

Come and find out more about your course, meet key members of staff like your personal tutor, and meet the people you’re going to be studying with.

The induction will include a welcome from the Head of History, Dr Andrew Priest, a short talk from the Director of Education, Dr Alix Green, followed by a welcome from our Senior Tutor, Professor Peter Gurney. There will be an opportunity to ask questions.

This will be followed by lunch with your Peer Mentor and Person Tutor and other students in your tutor group.

After lunch your Peer Mentor will take you on a tour of the University and visit the Department of History.

Studying more than one subject? If you're studying a joint degree, you should access key support through your home department. If you're not sure which is your home department, you can find out on MyEssex.
