Human Rights Through Art

About the initiative

Sometimes, the human dimension of rights gets lost in legal jargon and policy papers. This independent initiative uses the beauty and power of cinema to re-center that humanity.

Launched by a diverse group of professionals with a shared passion for human rights and the Arts, with the support of the Human Rights Centre at the University of Essex, this initiative uses films to spark deep conversations on human rights issues across disciplines. Through compelling movies and open dialogue, we’ll examine complex human rights issues with fresh eyes, starting with the often-overlooked rights of children in conflict, migration, and security contexts. For more information, please contact: humanrightscentre@essex.ac.uk
