Discover how the scheme works for your business

1. Check your eligibility using the guidance – if unsure, contact our Business Engagement team.

2. Identify a challenge or opportunity you want to explore and express your interest in creating a project by filling in our online form here

3. Scope your project: A contact from our Business Engagement team will be in touch to talk about your idea. They will help you formalise your thoughts and check we have the right expertise to help you.

4. Apply using our simple application form, which will be supplied by our Business Engagement team following discussions about your potential project.

5. Wait for the decision – we will aim to assess applications within three weeks and provide feedback on all applications whether successful or not.

6. Start your project!

Once your project is approved, an Innovation Manager will be deployed on the ground with your businesses and will work closely with you in an assess-report-strategise-deliver framework, receiving supervision from senior academic staff at the University.

They will have access to talented researchers who can be deployed on a range of business challenges and opportunities. They will manage the project with you, setting KPIs and objectives and keeping delivery on track. Outputs will vary between projects, but an Innovation Roadmap detailing next steps and future funding opportunities will be a minimum outcome for each project.
