Altmetric is a platform that enables us to monitor the online activity surrounding academic research and track the attention it receives on sources such as news outlets, blogs, social media and policy documents.

As a member of the University of Essex, you are able to browse your own work, other authors or departments within the University, as well as using the full Altmetric database to be able to track work from other Universities.

Some of the things you can achieve by using the Altmetric Explorer for Institutions:

  • Track influence as it happens
  • Ensure effective reputation management
  • Inform decision making
  • Report on outcomes and trends

You can use the Altmetric Explorer to run reports and analyse attention on research that matters to you, by creating custom shareable reports, exporting your saved searches to CSV files to create additional graphs and using the API to do more in-depth reporting as needed.

How to access Altmetric

You can access Altmetric via Single Sign-on using your Essex username and password.
