Moodle is the University's Virtual Learning Environment (VLE).

It hosts the majority of course materials and provides an online space for interactive teaching and promotes collaborative learning.

  • Moodle Baseline - the Moodle Baseline sets out the minimum requirements for effective and functional use of Moodle.

User guides

How to request a new Moodle course

To request a new Moodle course, email it.helpdesk@essex.ac.uk with the following information:

  • your name
  • your department
  • the name of the course
  • the short course code (if it is a module)
  • the names of any other staff who should have access

Please allow five working days for the set up of your course. You will notified by email when the new course has been set up.
