The layout of this area will be reconfigured through the erection of new stud walls and general refurbishment throughout. There will be some noise from erection of scaffolding and demolition, however this will be undertaken in early mornings where possible. There will be sporadic noise throughout the works. There will be restricted access to the men's and women's ground floor toilets at times, however the accessible facilities will be available throughout the works. Power shut downs will be communicated closer to the time. Please make use of alternative study spaces |

04 Sep 2023 - 15 Mar 2024 | Life Science | Development of the STEPS project on level 6 of the Life Science building. Weekend works to be undertaken on levels 3 and 5 until November 2023. Scaffolding to be erected in the courtyard area between the Lecture Theatre Building and Life Sciences on the underpodia level at the start of the project. Noise disruption expected from erection of scaffolding and construction works. Impact from dust to be mitigated through the use of plastic-coated hoardings where appropriate |
15 Sep 2023 - ongoing | Square 4, 4NW entrance | The outer automatic doors have come off their tracks. To maintain safe access through this door the automatic function has been temporarily removed, however this means that the doors now need to be manually operated until further notice. The inner automatic doors are operational as normal |
18-24 Sep 2023 | Psychology Building | Installations of LED lighting to reduce electricity consumption. Some noise expected from ad hock drilling, contractors working in walkways, offices and corridors. Localised electrical isolations will be undertaken to facilitate these works, as advised by the project manager to building occupants |
18-22 Sep 2023 | Tony Rich Teaching Centre and The Hexagon Building | Concrete cleaning around the Tony Rich Teaching Centre and The Hexagon Building to be undertaken. There will be local pathway closures in place, however access with be maintained throughout the works by only closing one side of the pathway at a time. 19 Sep - ongoing | Main Academic building, Square 4, 4SE entrance, 5S corridors | Our mechanical team are working on an extensive blockage that has lead them to isolate the toilets on every level of the 5S corridors in the Main Academic building. There is no water to the female, male, or accessible facilities on all levels - please make use of the facilities in other areas of the building |

14 Oct 2023 | Essex Business School | From 7.00am the indoor garden within the Essex Business School will be barriered off to allow for three large palm trees to be replaced. There will be no access through this area during this time - works are being undertaken at the weekend to minimise any impact on building users |
We use an electronic system called SOTER to manage approved contractors and monitor key organisational information such as insurance and accreditations expiry dates and ensure all have benefited from the Estates induction. It also enables operatives to log on and off site.
