Hole 1
Sweet Chestnut Copse
Our first hole on the course can be found directly in front of the Essex Sport Arena. From outside the entrance, walk down the steps and you'll find the course map in front of you. Tee pad 1 can be found just to the right of you.
Hole 1 has a tee-to-target decline of 3m and is 74m in distance, at par 3. You'll find the target directly in front you down the hill, between the trees. This is a difficult technical start for the beginner.
Pro tip
A tight, technical start to the course. The hole suits a turnover forehand with an over-stable disc for a right-handed player or a tight backhand flex shot for a left-hander. As the green slopes away from you make sure you don’t leave it short or a very tricky downhill putt awaits.
