Profile

Biography

I started to work for the University of Essex as a Lecturer in French in September 2019. Prior to joining Essex in the Department of Language and Linguistics, I worked for the University of Durham for the School of Modern Languages and Cultures (2012-19). Then, I was a French Lecteur (university language assistant) before progressing on to an open-ended Assistant Teaching Fellowship. I was awarded Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy (AdvanceHE) in 2015, in recognition of attainment against the UK Professional Standards Framework for Teaching and Learning Support in Higher Education. My main areas of Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL) are as follows: promotion of French language and francophone culture; widening access to University through outreach activities and summer schools; enhancing student (learning) experience. More specifically to my teaching practice, academic advising; curriculum design and assessment (formative/ summative/ coursework); independent learning; Common European Framework of Reference for Languages; DELF/DALF (French examination for language); flipped classroom approach.
