Biography

Owen has worked, lived, studied and volunteered at Essex for the last 8 years. He first joined Essex in 2016 after completing his GCSEs and A-Levels, studying for an undergraduate degree in Psychology (1st with Hons) and later completed a postgraduate degree in Research Methods in Psychology (Distinction) as well. During Owen's time as a student, he held various part-time roles across our campus, including working as a Bystander Intervention Trainer and Residents' Assistant (RA). He later transitioned into full-time work with the University in 2020, starting as an Adviser within the Student Information Team (SIT) then progressing to Senior Adviser. Owen later worked within Residence Life and our Student Wellbeing and Inclusivity Service (SWIS) as a Residence Life Coordinator managing a cohort of 80 student staff and as an occasional Student Wellbeing Assessor respectively. He now works as a Research Assistant for the Institute for Social Economic Research (ISER), on 'Understanding Society,' the UK Household Longitudinal Study (UKHLS). Owen plans to pursue a PhD in the near future.
