Language Variation and Change in the Cockney Diaspora

The Debden Estate in Loughton, Essex, is part of the Cockney Diaspora, a number of council estates on the periphery of London that were built following WW2 to house families from the East-End. I am looking at identity and how this is reflected in the speech signal, linguistic variation and change and dialect contact between those living in Debden and Loughton.
