Our partnership with Kaplan Open Learning to deliver online degree courses to students across the world, has picked up an international award.

University of Essex Online was launched in 2007 and offers undergraduate and post-graduate degrees in business, criminology, law, marketing and psychology. There are over 1,500 current students and a further 1,600 have graduated since the courses began.

The partnership has been voted the public/private partnership of the year in the inaugural PIEoneer Awards, which aim to celebrate the most innovative work being done across the international education sector.

Judges said: “The partnership exemplified how the private and public sector can work together in exceptional ways to enhance institutional reputations, deliver academic excellence and positive financial results for both parties. It demonstrates the value of long-term commitment and strategic alignment to provide an online delivery model that increases education access to learners around the world.”

Dean of Partnerships, Professor Dominic Micklewright, said: “This is a great achievement and recognises the hard work and commitment that has gone into the partnership and into providing first class student support, which has led to exceptional student satisfaction and a high proportion of students completing their course.”

PIEoneer pride themselves in providing news and business analysis for professionals in international education, through a website, weekly newsletter and quarterly magazine.
